WESTERN CORDILLLERA
Summary
The Western cordillera was created by collisions of the North American Plate and the Pacific Plate in which uplifted the region. Hence, the name Cordillera meaning mountains or mountainous. In addition, the Western Cordillera contains the Rocky Mountains, the Columbia Mountains (east), the Interior Plateau (central), and the Coast Mountains. Each of these areas are either composed of sedimentary, igneous, or metamorphic rock; which are rich in mineral. Another economic resource would be timber but as this is such a needed resource clear cutting is a major problem. In addition, as there are two types of climate; continental and maritime, there are a large variety of wildlife and vegetation. In conclusion, the Western cordillera is a mountainous region, that provided a great deal of timber; increasing the financial status, but decreasing the amount of trees and habits for animals.
