Both regions have hot, humid summers, and cold, dry winters. The Great Lakes Lowlands can rise above 20 degrees C and sometimes even 30 degrees C in the summer and can range from 0 degrees C to -10 degrees C, sometimes dropping below -30 degrees C. There is about 600mm to 1000mm of precipitation yearly. The St. Lawrence Lowlands on the other hand have a continental climate. During summer, it has an average climate of about 25 degrees C and can occasionally experience severe thunderstorms and rains. In the winter, the temperature can range from -10 degrees C to -20 degrees C. In addition, there is about 200mm to 300mm of snow yearly.
