Soil and Natural Vegetation

However, plants, such as rare barriers, lichens, moss, tough grass, Arctic willows, and small shrubs are able to survive as they tend to grow close to the ground to obtain as much heat as possible. .This being said, the richness of tundra decreases towards the north. In addition, the islands south of Parry Channel are rock and moss surfaces; Queen Elizabeth Islands are a desert of bare rock and soil with a patch of vegetation on moist sides.
